Yenisei AgentGetting started

App interface

How the window is laid out: the left panel with conversations, the input field, and the right panel with files, a terminal, and a browser.

The app window has three parts. On the left is a panel with working folders and conversations, in the center is the conversation with the agent, and on the right is a panel where files, a terminal, and a browser open.

Left panel

  • Mode switch in the header: "Chats" and "Agent".
  • "New session" starts a new conversation in the current working folder.
  • "Tasks" opens the list of scheduled tasks.
  • Working folders and the conversations in them. The magnifier icon searches conversation titles and text.
  • At the bottom are your name and plan. Clicking them opens a menu: "Settings", "Account", "Usage", "Sign out". Next to it is the "Report a bug" button.

Conversation menu

The "···" button next to a conversation title opens three actions.

  • "Rename".
  • "Fork session" continues the conversation from this point as a separate branch.
  • "Archive session" removes the conversation from the list. The archive is available in the settings, in the "Archived sessions" section, where a conversation can be restored.

Input field

Below the input field are the "+" button, the permissions switch, the microphone, and the model picker. The "+" button opens a menu: "File", "Goal", and "Plan" at the top, commands below.

The '+' button menu

ItemWhat it does
"File"Attaches a document or an image.
"Goal" (goal)Sets the goal of a large task or shows the current one.
"Plan" (plan)Turns planning mode on and off: the agent draws up a plan first.
"Compact" (compact)Compacts the early part of the conversation so that a long conversation can go on.
"Permissions" (permission)Switches the access mode.
"Model" (model)Chooses the model for this conversation.

"Goal" and "Plan" are described on the Large tasks page.

Right panel

The panel opens with the panel icon button in the upper right corner of the window; the same button collapses it. Every open item has its own tab, and "+" opens a new one. The panel header has three buttons: "Split" gives the panel half of the window, "Full screen" expands it, "Collapse" hides it.

Working folder files

The folder tree of the current conversation. Click a file, and it opens in a tab. A file also opens when you click its name in the conversation after the agent has read, changed, or created it.

The panel shows text and code, Markdown, PDF, images (PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF), and HTML. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files do not open in it; ask the agent about their contents, it reads them itself. The panel only shows files: to change something, ask the agent.

Terminal

A command line in the conversation's working folder. On macOS and Linux your usual shell opens (zsh or bash), on Windows cmd.exe or PowerShell. The shell can be chosen with the arrow next to the "New terminal" item.

The terminal is yours, not the agent's: you run the commands, and long commands can be left running. The agent does not see the terminal output. To have the agent run a command, ask it in the conversation.

The terminal opens in the working folder

Browser

An address bar and a page inside the panel. Sites that forbid being displayed inside other windows will not open; a blank page appears instead. The agent does not see the page in the panel: to have it read the page, give the link in the conversation.

Browser in the right panel

There is no right panel in "Chats" mode.
