Limits and errors
How credit limits work and what the program's error messages mean.
If something goes wrong, the assistant says so right in the conversation. This page collects the usage limits and the messages you may see, with a hint on what to do in each case.
Usage limits
Credit usage is charged to your account. Your plan has limits per 5-hour session, per week and per month. When a limit is used up, the program shows the server's message and the time by your clock:
This session's credits have run out. The allowance will refresh in 2 h 15 min, or change your plan in the console. (at 18:27)
Your plan and usage are shown in the console, prices in the model catalog.
Program messages
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| The server's message about an unavailable model and the hint "Change the model: /model" | Choose another model with the /model command. |
| "The model is busy right now. Try again in a few seconds." | Repeat the request a little later. |
| "The model is temporarily unavailable (code 502). Try again." | Repeat the request a little later. |
| "connection 2/6…" | Nothing to do: the program retries the request itself, up to 6 attempts, about 30 seconds. |
| "Could not reach Yenisei: the server is not responding. Check your internet connection and repeat the request." | Check your internet connection and repeat the task. |
| "The reply was cut off: the connection was lost. Say 'continue' to go on." | Type "continue". |
| "session expired, run: yenisei login" | Sign in again, see Signing in. |
| "stopped at the limit of 40 steps; the task may be unfinished; say 'continue' to go on" | Type "continue". |
| "command stopped by timeout (180s)" | Ask the assistant to run long commands in the background. |
| "folder is not under git; changes are NOT committed, /undo will not be able to roll them back" | Run git init in the folder if you need changes saved and rolled back. |
| "git not found; changes are NOT committed, /undo will not be able to roll them back" | Install git. |
Instead of "the server is not responding" you may see "server not found", "the connection was lost" or "could not verify the server's identity"; the reason is named in the line itself.
Long conversations
When a conversation gets very long, the program removes the oldest parts
itself. You can shorten the conversation manually with /compact, or start
over with /reset.
