Yenisei CLIGetting started

Installation

How to install Yenisei CLI on macOS, Linux and Windows and check that the program runs.

Yenisei CLI is a single program with no dependencies. On macOS and Linux it installs with one command; on Windows it is downloaded as a single file. An internet connection is required; git is recommended: without it the assistant still works, but it does not save changes and cannot roll them back.

Supported systems

  • macOS 12 or later, Apple Silicon and Intel.
  • Linux, x86-64 and ARM.
  • Windows 10 or later, x86-64.

Installing on macOS and Linux

Run in the terminal:

Terminal
curl -fsSL https://yenisei.ru/app/cli/install.sh | sh

The installer downloads the build for your system, verifies the checksum and places the program at /usr/local/bin/yenisei. If you do not have write access to that folder, it asks for your sudo password. If the checksum does not match, it installs nothing.

The installer verified the checksum and installed the program

Installing to a different folder

To install the program somewhere else, set the path in the DEST variable. The folder must exist and be in your PATH:

Terminal
curl -fsSL https://yenisei.ru/app/cli/install.sh | DEST="$HOME/.local/bin/yenisei" sh

On macOS, do not download the program with a browser. The browser marks the file with a quarantine flag, and macOS silently refuses to run such a program. The command above does not set that flag.

Installing on Windows

Download the program with the button on the download page; the file is saved as yenisei.exe. A single command in PowerShell or cmd does the same:

PowerShell
curl.exe -fL -o yenisei.exe https://yenisei.ru/app/cli/yenisei-cli-windows-amd64.exe

Put yenisei.exe in any folder that is in your PATH. The program runs in a terminal: PowerShell, cmd or Windows Terminal. The SmartScreen warning only applies to launching by double-click; from the terminal the program starts without it.

Checking the installation

Make sure the program responds and shows its version number:

Terminal
yenisei --version

Next: Signing in.
